I started a couple illustrations back in August and planned to really take my time on them. The first one still isn't done, but I've been getting good feedback from the people I've showed this one too, so it's time to post it online.

The classic carnival goldfish game works like this;
You toss ping pong balls at glass bowls(usually filled with water), ping pong ball lands in a bowl, and you win a fish. There are variations to this, but the prize is almost always some kind of inexpensive animal. The trick to this game? Buy enough balls, you'll get a fish eventually.
It's both fascinating and disturbing that a living creature can be won in a game. The amount of joy and excitement we attach to these games-just as fascinating, but this image isn't a statement about animal cruelty. Yes, this is the sad story of the feeder goldfish, but with everything that's happened in this country/globally within the months I've been working on this-I'm starting to feel more and more like the feeder goldfish.

Yeah,I always feel so bad for those poor fish. It my local fair they actually used to have you throw the balls into the fish's glass to win it. I was given a fish from one of these games, and am determined to keep the little guy around for a while. Here's hoping.
